Kristineberg Marine Research Station and Tjärnö Marine Biological Laboratory was January 1, 2008 joined into a new marine research organisation within Göteborg University. The name of the organisation is The Sven Lovén Centre for Marine Sciences. The research vessel Skagerak is also a part of The Sven Lovén Centre for Marine Sciences.
